Yankees vs. Red Sox: How to watch, streaming, TV channel, team lineups
After two high-scoring victories, the Yankees look to take a third straight from their rivals and secure the league victory. While the Red Sox team has been able to score some runs, their pitching has not managed to keep the Yankees in check at all.
Jordan Montgomery will take the ball, and New York can certainly use a longer play from him after Nestor Cortes failed to get out of the fourth round yesterday. His last outing was July 3 in Cleveland, when he threw five innings, knocked out eight and allowed one deserved run. He suffered a tough loss.
Boston will deploy Cutter Crawford, who has worked as both a replacement and starter this season. You may remember that he earned the loss on the opening day of Josh Donaldson’s departure. He was moved to the rotation due to the injuries that are currently decimating that unit for Boston. Crawford’s results have been mixed, but his last start was pretty good, as he added up to 5.1 goalless innings and eight strikeouts against the Tampa Bay Rays. But that attack is much weaker than New York, and Crawford has 4.18 FIP so far this season.
Aaron Judge returns to the right field for the Yankees. Anthony Rizzo is also back in the squad for the first time since July 3, as the stiffness in his back seems to have cleared up. Matt Carpenter plays left field again, which could be interesting, while Giancarlo Stanton is DH. Kyle Higashioka will capture, and with Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Gleyber Torres rounding the infield, DJ LeMahieu will have the day off. Joey Gallo is also out, with Aaron Hicks playing midfield.
Rafael Devers will sit for the Sox today after being removed from yesterday’s match with back pain, so there is one less thing to worry about. His absence removes a lot of weight from today’s team line-up. Rob Refsnyder (I still can not believe he is not only nearby, but produces) beats the lead and plays the right field, while Christian Arroyo moves to the first base after yesterday’s accident in the field. JD Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, Alex Verdugo and Trevor Story are on DH, short, left field and second base as usual. Bobby Dalbec will play third, Kevin Plawecki will take, and Jarren Duran is in midfield.
