ERIE – The McLusky family’s saga of power, corruption and crime is currently unfolding on Erie’s East Bay, and Jeremy Renner is on the set.
“Mayor of Kingstown”, a Paramount + drama series starring the twice Oscar-nominated Renner, brought its production to the water’s edge near Lampe Marina and the East Avenue boat launch on Monday 27 June and Tuesday 28 June.
A crew from the production company King Street Productions Inc. was in the city and filmed various scenes, including one with a helicopter that uses a searchlight to search the waters of Presque Isle Bay.
This detail is among the information included in the special event permit King Street Productions obtained from the city of Erie on June 20. The city gave a copy of the permission to Erie Times-News after the newspaper requested it.
The production company was charged $ 24,110 for the permit, which also means that a number of Erie police officers and firefighters were on the set for security reasons, said David Rocco, the city’s erie special events and licensing coordinator.
The Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority, which owns Lampe Marina and the boat launch, gave the production company permission to use the properties, Rocco said.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Federal Aviation Administration are also aware of the “Mayor Of Kingstown” shooting, according to city officials.
“They started shooting on Monday and the permit allows them to use these places on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,” Rocco said. – This is a fairly large production. I have been in the city for 17 years, and it is the first permit I have given in the city for a large TV production. “
A Paramount + description of the series states: “Kingstown’s table attendant follows the powerful McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the prison business is the only thriving industry. The series addresses issues such as systemic racism, corruption and inequality, and gives a sharp look at their attempts to bring order and justice to a city that has none of the parts. “
Renner, the star of the series, is also known around the world for his portrayal of master archer and shooter Clint Barton, also known as “Hawkeye” in Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and TV series.
Emmy winner Kyle Chandler and two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest are also part of the show’s cast. The show was created by Taylor Sheridan, who also launched the popular Paramount drama “Yellowstone” starring Kevin Costner.
“Mayor of Kingstown” debuted in November on the Paramount Plus streaming service and ended its first season of 10 episodes in January. Production began on the show’s second season in December, with some recordings taking place in various locations in the Pittsburgh area.
Private security guards employed by the production company refused to give a reporter access to the Lampe Marina set, and representatives of King Street Productions could not be reached for comment.
