Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the last entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)and see Shuri, Queen Ramonda, and Okay deal with death to King T’Challaand the rising power of Talokan and Namor. The film took a strong departure from the usual MCU format, focusing on the geopolitical fallout following Wakanda’s decision to reveal itself to the world.

The film has also done well at the box office, facing very little competition in a depressed cinema market. Now nearing the end of its theatrical run, this grueling installment of the MCU will soon find itself cycled out of theaters and onto Disney+. But what date will this be?

Marvel is one of the many studios that fall under the Disney brand, and the vast majority of the films in the MCU have been released on Disney+.

The two exceptions to this are The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man: No Way Home, and this is because Disney does not own the distribution rights for these two films. Universal owns the distribution rights to all solo Hulk films, and Sony retains the distribution rights to all solo Spider-Man films.

When is Wakanda Forever on Disney Plus?

Disney has not released the date as Wakanda forever coming to Disney+. There’s a 45-theater exclusivity period, which means the earliest the movie can come to Disney+ is December 26, Boxing Day. This is unlikely to be the case, as Disney has not immediately released a Marvel movie on Disney+ after its theatrical exclusivity has expired.

Wakanda forever has done quite well at the box office, so it’s likely that Disney will want to keep the film in theaters just a little longer to maximize profits. Of course, this position can be reassessed once Avatar: The Way of the Water crashes into theaters on December 16, but it’s unlikely to wash everything away Wakanda Forever’s earning potential.

Compare Wakanda forever to Eternals can help figure out the Disney+ release date. Eternals released in theaters on November 5, 2021, a similar time of year as Wakanda forever. It didn’t hit Disney+ until January 12, 2022, 68 days after its theatrical release.

With both of these things in mind, it is more likely that Wakanda forever will be released on Disney+ sometime in January 2023.

Thor: Love and Thunder – released July 7 in theaters and arrived on Disney+ 63 days later.

Looking at this, it takes an average of 62 days between the release of a Marvel movie in theaters and its release on Disney+, and often longer. It’s not a hard and fast rule, though Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness hit Disney+ several days before their counterparts.
