An international Disney+ account appears to have announced a new one prematurely Star Wars-themed card focusing on the fan-favorite character Grogu, by The Mandalorian fame.
The official Disney+ IT (Italy) Twitter account recently shared a list of programming being added to the service this month. On the list is a new original card with the title Star Wars Zen: Grogu and the Dust Bunnieswhich is apparently slated for release on Saturday, November 12. The original post has since been deleted, but was saved and posted on the r/StarWarsLeaks subreddit.
The apparent release date of the Grogu and the dust bunnies would certainly seem like an appropriate day to drop a Grogu-centric one Star Wars briefly, given that November 12, 2022 will mark three years since fans were first introduced to the green, force-sensitive infant in the premiere episode of The Mandalorian. Such a short film can also be used to shoot over fans of Grogu, depending on how The Mandalorian Season 3 isn’t expected until next year.
The force will always be with you
At this time it is unclear what the exact nature of Star Wars Zen: Grogu and the Dust Bunnies could have been. Notably, however, Disney+ already has a series of shorts with the title Zenimationwhich “creates an immersive soundscape experience featuring scenes from the timeless films of Walt Disney Animation Studios.” Grogu and the dust bunnies may well be a similar attempt with one Star Wars theme, although it is also unclear whether there will be future entries in Star Wars Zen series.
In any case, if this is the case, it would not be the first part of Star Wars media to put mindfulness and meditation at the forefront. This past May 4, Disney and Lucasfilm launched Star Wars Mindful Mattersa series of shorts hosted by Star Wars: The Clone Wars alum Ashley Eckstein. In each episode, Eckstein leads a “Star Wars-inspired mindfulness practice, viewers learn that it only takes a moment to make a powerful difference in one’s everyday life.”
Your and Grogu’s adventure continues
The first live-action series set in Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ in November 2019. The show follows the adventures of Din “Mando” Djarin, a bounty hunter who takes care of Grogu, a young member of the same species as Jedi Master Yoda.
The Mandalorian returned for season 2 in October 2020. The series’ second season ended with Din and Grogu going their separate ways. More specifically, it was later taken to be trained in the ways of the Jedi by Luke Skywalker. However, Grogu chose to return to Din and the two were reunited in the limited series in late 2021/early 2022 The Book of Boba Fett. The Mandalorian Season 3 is set to premiere on Disney+ in February 2023. However, contrary to recent reports, a specific debut date has yet to be set.
