Disney+ releases first unsatisfied clip

“In Andalasia, the hardest part of life is finding your happily ever after,” Giselle (Amy Adams) told Disney’s Disenchanted supporter. “This world is very different.” More than ten years after their history book ended in 2007 EnchantedGiselle and her husband Robert’s (Patrick Dempsey) quest for a life of adventure brings them to the not-so-magical suburbs of sleepy Monroeville. But in the first clip from Enchanted sequel, below, Giselle and Robert’s “fixer-upper” home hosts a royal visit from a pair of fairytale guests: Andalasia’s King Robert (James Marsden) and Queen Nancy (Idina Menzel).

“Are you poor now?” asks the song-happy and simple-minded King Edward of Giselle and Robert’s humble “abode”. Giselle explains that their suburban home is “what they call a ‘fixer-upper,'” to which the king replies, “Yes, when your peasants have dug the moat and added a tower and a balcony from which you can sing the bath in the light of a forgiving moon. I see it now.”

“For the longest time there was talk of us making another sequel Enchanted, but it never quite came together. And then we all got on with our lives,” Marsden said ET Canada about returning to the realm of Andalasia 15 years after the original Enchanted. “And so [director] Adam Shankman came on board, I did Hair spray with him and he said, ‘I think we’re doing this.’ I said, ‘I hope so!’

“The timing worked for everyone on board. I think the issue was, what is the story we’re telling?” Marsden said. “What we’re exploring in this is what happens after happily ever after, where does it go? It has the same optimism of the first film and all the joy and magic, but yeah, [we’re] fifteen years later.”

What is Enchanted Sequel about?

It’s been more than 10 years since Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) got married, but Giselle has become disillusioned with life in the city, so they move their growing family to the sleepy suburban community of Monroeville in search of a more adventurous life. Unfortunately, it’s not the quick fix she’d hoped for. Suburbia has a whole new set of rules and a local queen bee, Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), who makes Giselle feel more out of place than ever. Frustrated that it hasn’t been so easy to find her forever, she turns to Andalasia’s magic for help, turning the entire town into a true fairy tale and jeopardizing her family’s future happiness. Now Giselle is in a race against time to reverse the spell and find out what happily ever after means to her and her family.
