Disney + ‘National Treasure’ series gets official title
Today, Disney announced the panels for Disney-owned networks, studios and streamers at Comic-Con that will take place later this month in San Diego. One of the panels revealed is for the upcoming Disney + Original series based on National tax franchise which has now been given the title “National Treasure: Edge of History. “
The “National Treasure: Edge of History” panel will take place on Thursday 21 July, and the cast and executive producers will share an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the series. You can see more details about the panel below:
14.15–15.15 – NATIONAL TAX: EDGE OF HISTORY – The actors and executive producers will share an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Disney + Original series, which is an extension of the hit film series. The series’ regulars Lisette Olivera, Jake Austin Walker, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Zuri Reed, Lyndon Smith and executive producers Cormac and Marianne Wibberley gather to discuss this upcoming action-adventure series. The live-action series is an extension of the “National Treasure” film series centered around a young heroine, Jess (Lisette Alexis), a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventures of her life to uncover the truth about the family’s mysterious past. and save a lost Pan-American treasure.
As previously announced, the series has the main role several award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Ocean’s Twelve”) as Billie, a lousy billionaire, antiques expert on the black market and a treasure hunter who lives by his own code; Zuri Reed (“Flatbush Misdemeanors”) as Tasha, Jess’ ride-or-death girlfriend who joins the treasure hunt but is forced to reevaluate her belief system to help her best friend; Jordan Rodrigues (“Lady Bird”) as Ethan, Jess’ childhood best friend who has loved her since the day they met; Antonio Cipriano (“Jagged Little Pill” on Broadway) as Oren, a lovable but self-absorbed jerk with an encyclopedic knowledge of conspiracy theories trying to win back Tasha’s devotion; Jake Austin Walker (“Rectify”) as Liam, a faintly weary musician, with a permanent chip on his shoulder, coming from a long line of treasure hunters. Jess recruits her friends to help uncover the truth about her parents and their affiliation with the treasure. Lyndon Smith (“Parenting”) plays the lead role of FBI Agent Ross, who assists in the mission.
It was also recently announced that actor Justin Bartha is returning to guest starring and recreating the character of Riley Poole from the hit “National Treasure” series and Jacob Vargas (Mr. Iglesias) has been given a strongly recurring role.
According to Knight Edge Media, director and cinematographer Nathan Hope (Lucifer, Titans) has signed to direct an episode of the series. Hope joins previously announced director Mira Nair.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reeds’ directors produce the series together with Rick Muirragui, who also acts as author. Jon Turteltaub is also an executive producer. Mira Nair directs and produces.
A Disney-branded TV series, “National Treasure: Edge of History” is produced by ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios.
“National Treasure: Edge of History” will reportedly consist of 10 episodes. A Disney + release date for the series has not been announced yet.
