Daredevil & Kingpin Returns in Marvel’s “Echo” Disney + Series – What’s Happening at Disney Plus

Following the success of Marvel’s “Hawkeye”, Marvel Studios announced the release of a brand new Disney + series focusing on Echo, which sees Alaqua Cox return to MCU as Maya Lopez.

This series will be the origin story of Echo and see Maya Lopez return to her hometown, but her ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her and she must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the importance of family and society if she ever hope to move on.

Deadline has confirmed that Kingpin and Daredevil will appear in the new “Echo” series, with Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox returning to the characters they played in the previous Netflix series, “Daredevil”. Both actors have already debuted at MCU, with Matt Murdock making a small cameo in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and Kingpin being introduced in the “Hawkeye” series, where it was determined that Maya worked for him and shot him to finally, when she found out that Kingpin was behind her father’s death.

Since Echo was originally introduced in the comics Daredevil, it’s not a big surprise to see these characters return for the “Echo” series.

Earlier this year, Disney signed a deal with Netflix to reclaim the streaming rights to their “Defender” series, which included Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. All of these series are now available on Disney +.

“Echo” also features Chaske Spencer (“Wild Indian”, “The English”), Tantoo Cardinal (“Killers of the Flower Moon”, “Stumptown”), Devery Jacobs (FX’s “Reservation Dogs”, “American Gods”) and Cody Lightning (“Hey, Viktor!” “Four Sheets to the Wind”), with Graham Greene (“1883,” “Goliath”) and Zahn McClarnon (“Dark Winds,” FXs “Reservation Dogs”).

Co-executive producers are Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King (Seminole) and Jennifer Booth.

Production began in Atlanta on Marvel Studios’ “Echo” in May, and this new series will be streamed exclusively on Disney + in 2023.
