
Pakistan (PAK) is preparing to host the fourth international bilateral series this year as New Zealand (NZ) is set to tour the country in late December 2022. Having completed the series against Australia, West Indies and England at home in 2022, Pakistan will be hoping the anxious New Zealand side have a smooth outing having already canceled the series sometime in 2021 due to security concerns. Earlier, the New Zealand tour of Pakistan 2022-2023 was scheduled to start from December 27, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the rescheduled date to December 26. The start of New Zealand’s 2022-23 tour of Pakistan will be with a two-match Test series. The opening match of the series will be played from 26 December 2022 as per revised schedule at National Stadium Karachi and the second Test match is scheduled to start from 3 January 2023 at Multan Cricket Stadium. The Test series will be part of the 2021-2023 World Test Championship. After ending the battle of red ball cricket, the action will switch to limited overs which will include three match ODI series. The first ODI is scheduled on 10 January followed by the second on 12 January 2023. The third and final ODI will be played on 14 January. The upcoming bilateral series is not intended to be played as compensation for the 2021 series, which was canceled due to complaints from the New Zealand side about receiving the unknown threats. For that matter, the Blackcaps will visit Pakistan once again in April 2023 to make up for the sudden cancellation of the planned 2021 bilateral series between the two teams. The second leg of New Zealand’s tour to Pakistan will start from April 13 to May 7, 2023, which will include five T20Is and as many ODIs.
