We all know dating and relationships can be tough, but it seems some people just don’t have to try as hard to find love. Emily Ratajkowski is one of those people. But when it comes to one of Hollywood’s hottest celebs, she really is just like us — at least in one aspect — as she recently revealed that she joined a dating app. The revelation comes on the heels of headlines that appear to point to her the relationship with Pete Davidson has come to an endand if Gone girl The actress has even resorted to the apps in search of love, what chance do the rest of us have?
Emily Ratajkowski is an actress who is starred opposite Ben Afflecka model who has been featured in music videos and author of My body, a collection of essays exploring beauty, sexuality and power dynamics in our culture. Since announcing her split from her husband of four years, Sebastian Bear-McClard, she has reportedly been on a a few dates with Brad Pitt and was last associated with Pete Davidson. So why the decision to create a dating profile? She explained on her podcast High Low (opens in a new tab):
I had a glass of wine and thought, ‘Damn it.’ I actually felt defiant because so many people told me I shouldn’t get it.
Apparently, a number of people were confused by her decision to get into dating apps, as Emily Ratajkowski said she got questions in both the DMs and from friends and family about why she did it, and her response to them was:
Because I’m a woman. I am a free, independent, single woman. I want to do it.
And that should be reason enough for anyone! I love that she’s taking control of her love life in such a way and exploring her options. She said she’s even had requests from women, “which is exciting.” It’s especially funny that she did it in a defiant way, after apparently being told not to by so many people. However, she and her co-host pointed out that being on dating apps doesn’t hold the stigma it once did, and this is the world we live in now.
Emily Ratajkowski was previously linked to the notorious ladies’ man Pete Davidson. The supposed couple hung out on his birthday back in November before it appears to do so go public at a New York Knicks game. There were high hopes for the couple, who they bonded over their love of the East Coast in a way that Saturday Night Live alum couldn’t with the ex-boyfriend Kim Kardashian.
However, after Pete Davidson was spotted with his Body bodies Bodies co-star Chase Sui Wonders at a New York Rangers game and at his house — combined with EmRata’s dating app revelation — it looks like their relationship is over (or at least not exclusive).
So what kind of person is looking for the model on the dating apps? Emily Ratajkowski expressed that she just wants someone “normal”, saying:
We want a surgeon. We want a lawyer. An academic. … So I’m on this app just to meet these people, because my friends haven’t made it through the norms.
