From what we can tell, the second season of Vinland Saga will premiere outside Asia first on both Netflix and anime streaming service Crunchyroll. The current release date for the show on Netflix reads “to be streamed sequentially,” indicating that new episodes will become available to subscribers every week.

Some important plot points were hinted at, and the new title song “River” by Anonymouz was featured in the trailer. Thorfinn begins season 2 of the Vinland Saga as a slave on a Danish farm after failing to take revenge on Askeladd, as shown in the trailer.

The expansion of (now King) Canute the Great’s empire, the other main plot of the Vinland Saga, is also briefly discussed. Outside of Japan, the first season of Vinland Saga was made available on Crunchyroll, then on Prime Video, and is now streaming on Netflix.

Vinland Saga season 2 characters

There were many characters in the first season of Vinland Saga that helped move the plot along, but most were killed off. In contrast, the second season introduces a number of fascinating new characters, including Einar, who will play a central role in shaping Thorfinn’s personality.

Numerous actors including Shunsuke Takeuchi (Einar), Yuuto Uemura (Thorfinn), Mayumi Sako (Arnheid), Kensho Ono (Canute), Youji Ueda (Leif Erikson), Fuminori Komatsu (Snake), Mugihito (Sverkei), Taiten Kusunoki (Torgil ) ), Akio Ootsuka (Thorkell)

Vinland Saga’s first season director, Shuuhei Yabuta, returns for more. Other works of his worth include Attack on Titan, No Game No Life, Overlord and Parasyte: The Maxim. Takahiko Abiru, who has worked on Hunter x Hunter, Redline and Paprika, is responsible for animation and character design.

The series is composed by Hiroshi Seko, and the art directors are Izumi Hirabayashi and Kentarou Oonuki. Music by Yutaka Yamada, who previously scored Tokyo Ghoul, The Great Pretender and the first season of Vinland Saga, is back.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Plot

Season one ended with the brutal murder of the revered Jomsviking general Thors at the hands of Askeladd, the leader of a group of mercenaries. Thorfinn, his son, was present and saw everything, so he swore to exact justice on Askeladd in a fair fight for revenge.

After spending his formative years with Askeladd and then witnessing his death, he could not stop the vengeful Thorfinn that lived within him and finally gave up the fight for survival.

Fans of the manga insist that the real saga has only just begun, and that the first season serves as a fitting epilogue to Thorfinn’s arc. The anime’s second season adapts the Slave Arc, also known as Ketil’s Farm Arc, from the manga.

For attacking the new king, Knud, after he took away Thorfinn’s reason for living – Askeladd’s death – at the end of the first season, Thorfinn is sentenced to slavery. Season 2 will show a new side of Thorfinn, who feels the pain of slavery instead of the joy of a killing machine fighting for Askeladd.

A changed and revitalized Thorfinn will likely emerge. On the other hand, Knud has negative story potential because he wants to turn the earth into his paradise.
