I really wish someone in Bandai would put the brakes on this type of spin-off series. The characters are just amazingly stupid. Hard pass.

I mean, did they? Since turn A in 1999, they launched new AUs in two years or less, with the last two, G-reco and IBO, running almost back to back; now it has been ~ 5 years between the end of IBO and this new series.

In terms of which franchise because the user you are quoting seems to have a hard-on for UC, but fails to realize that Zeta, ZZ and Narrative all exist.
All we have for this series is also concept art and names of the mechanisms and the main character.
Can’t really say much about how stupid they are from that alone.

You might be thinking of Cucuruz No Doan, which is not really a reboot movie. It’s a retelling of the page removed from the story episode 15 of the original 0079. It was a pretty good movie that extended that episode and removed the comic character of the animation that made Tomino despise and blacklist future broadcasts of the original print.
