The famous Korean web series “Lookism”, which had a staggering 8.7 million fans globally (as of 2014), finally came to Netflix as an anime series. However, the release has been postponed. “Lookism,” the innovative Netflix adaptation born from Webtoon, centers on a college student who finds himself with a gorgeous face and an ideal figure one morning.

What was the old release date?

The anime series was supposed to premiere at midnight on November 4, 2022. However, Netflix tweeted about the delay three days before the premiere. On October 31, 2022, a post was made on the Netflix Anime Twitter page declaring the postponement and announcing no new dates.

Why was “Lookism” delayed?

The horrific events in Seoul during Halloween caused “Lookism” to be postponed. 156 people lost their lives and 151 were injured on Halloween. This was the biggest disaster in the nation’s peacetime history. The accident happened during a rush of people on Halloween night in the South Korean capital during one of the most rowdy festivals of the year. The Itaewon area, known for its active nightlife, was crowded with more than 100,000 people.

Most of the victims were young, given the occasion. The disaster has postponed a number of series, films and musical acts in South Korea. The most high-profile are “The Fabulous” and “Lookism”.

There has been no word on when “Lookism” will hit Netflix’s digital streaming waves as South Koreans experience a period of national mourning. The show is listed as “coming soon” to stream in the US and South Korea on the Netflix Media Center. Therefore, the question arises: When does this long-awaited animated web series intend to stream?
