Sailor Moon x Vans and four others popular 2022 anime sneaker collaborations that excited the sneaker world
1) Naruto x Jordan Zion 1
Undoubtedly one of the most famous anime sneaker partnerships of the year is Naruto x Jordan Zion 1. In addition to being a worldwide release of Nike’s highly coveted Jordan Zion line, it included a promo colorway for an additional Jordan 200E and three completely different Zion 1 colorways for the main release. In addition, the duo released a substantial clothing line with items to match each color, making the selection widely available to Naruto fans all over the world.
Each of these styles has color schemes and design approaches specific to a particular character from the “Big 3” series. “Kyuubi” depicts Naruto’s “Nine Tails” and “Sage of Six Paths” modes, two of the protagonists’ most prominent transformations, using shades like Electric Yellow, Alpha Orange and Black.
The “Sage of Six Paths” color scheme uses the similar white and black dots that appear in the character depiction of the Sage of Six Paths, a deity-like ancestor of the Shinobi. Next, “Nine Tails” depicts the “One/Four/Eight Tails” adaptation of Naruto with jagged lines as well as dynamic designs in orange and black.
Finally, “Jonin” combines the same colors found in the outfits of the high-ranking Jonin Shinobi, who play military commanders in the series: olive green, navy blue and white.
Each pair was tagged with a $130 price tag and was offered through Nike’s SNKRS app and some of the brand’s select stores.

Although Pokemon and Converse collaborated as early as January 2022, and their May 2022 collaborative release caught everyone’s attention due to its distinctly minimalist interpretation of the anime sneakers. Each Chuck Taylor features a pixelated game character based on a primary color from the Pokémon design on the tongue tab. Another important feature is a small text box with the character’s name, height, weight and Pokédex code located under the heel.
Converse went across most brands, favoring minimalism as opposed to large statement pieces. Despite this, each pair of Chuck Taylors is easily distinguishable for the Pokémon it represents, making this collection special despite its subtlety.
Several size options for these footwear were offered by the Swoosh-owned sneaker brand. All four colors could be purchased for around $76 (¥9,900).
