10 Anime Shows Like Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure You Must Watch

Aggretsuko (2018)

Based on another popular Sanrio character, this anime follows the story of a red panda named Aggretsuko who lacks satisfaction in life and her accounting career. Like Gudetama, she struggles to get by every day, and watching her navigate adulthood is a fun experience. The animation may make it feel like a children’s show, but it’s definitely a show for a more mature audience.

Hamtaro (2000)

Once upon a time, Hamtaro was a staple in every young anime fan’s afternoon slot. The series follows a pet hamster and his friends as they get up to antics while their owners are away. The characters are adorable, each with their own unique personality, making each episode an entertaining new adventure. Of course, Hamtaro’s adventures never go quite as smoothly as planned, but that’s half the fun.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom (2020)

Just like the lazy Gudetama, Princess Katarina would rather do something other than her royal duties. She would much rather eat sweets than be courted, especially when a romance is likely to lead to her untimely demise. Although this romantic comedy is more of a fantasy, Gudetama fans are sure to appreciate the humor that Katarina brings to the series and find that her laid-back attitude about most things feels quite familiar.

Attack on Titan: Junior High (2015)

This one-season series is a spin-off of the popular Attack on Titan anime, minus the death and disaster – for the most part. Attack on Titan: Junior High follows the same characters, but in traditional school environments where they get into funny antics. Fans of Gudetama and Attack on Titan will likely enjoy this more light-hearted interpretation of the series.

Bananas (2016)

Part banana and part cat is an odd combination, but this anime is definitely still fun. It follows Bananya and his other feline hybrid friends as they pass the time. Like Gudetama, the main character is too adorable not to love even if they are a little weird.

Cooking Pan (2001)

Kogepan proves that anyone, or anything, can be the star of anime, even a piece of overcooked bread. He and Gudetama have more in common than being food: they’re both insanely popular Japanese characters with dull personalities, but that somehow only makes them more endearing.

Sanrio Boys (2018)

Sanrio has many famous characters in its lineup, so many it can be difficult to choose a favorite. If you’ve ever felt an overwhelming love for any of these characters, you’re not alone. Actual, Sanrio guys is an anime about just that – young men who are fans of Sanrio characters! People who want to maximize the cuteness of Gudetama and other kawaii characters will get a kick out of this wholesome series about being true to yourself.

Please Take My Brother Away (2016)

Although the episodes are quite short, even shorter than Gudetama’s, this anime packs a lot of laughs into a small package. Shi Fen is Shi Miao’s lazy, useless older brother, whom she often steps on. Adherents of Gudetama’s flawed attitude are sure to get a kick out of Shi Fen and his equally calm outlook on life.

Rilakkuma and Kaoru (2019)

Much like Gudetama, Rilakkuma and Kaoru isn’t the most conventional Netflix anime, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun. Although it looks more like a children’s show, the series is actually aimed at young adults who will appreciate the humor and relatability of the series. Rilakkuma is another cute character known to relax, which will help him feel familiar.

Kotaro Lives Alone (2022)

This series follows Kotaro, a 4-year-old who lives in an apartment by himself. Although young, he proves perfectly capable of taking care of himself, but that doesn’t stop the neighbors from worrying and trying to help. There is a strong emphasis on family in Gudetama, which is also present in Kotaro lives alone, especially on found family. It can be a little sad at times, but Kotaro’s upbeat attitude and Gudetama-like wit make it more than worth watching.
